Program Overview


Winds: Core Knowledge is a collaborative wind ensemble intensive designed for:

  • beginners

  • developing musicians

  • students rebuilding fundamentals

  • homeschool students

  • public school students

  • PCS-transition families

The intensive functions as a focused, creativity-forward ensemble experience emphasizing:

  • listening skills

  • collaboration

  • rhythmic confidence

  • healthy playing habits

  • musical literacy

  • creative musical thinking

  • tone production

through:

  • ensemble rehearsal

  • creativity labs

  • guided reflection

  • collaborative performance preparation

The intensive concludes with a salon-style ensemble performance experience.

Rehearsal Structure

Each rehearsal includes:

  • oboe and bassoon require private study alongside ensemble participation


Concert Experience

The intensive concludes with a salon-style collaborative performance experience.

The performance celebrates collaborative growth, artistry, and ensemble experience.

    Suggested summer intensive structure minimums:

    • two 10-minute sessions daily for beginners

    • two 15-minute sessions daily for students rebuilding fundamentals.

    The performance is the culmination of the efforts of every member of the group, and we as musicians honor this by doing the best we can with our part and showing up for the ensemble every day.
